Problem

The Magic Toy Shop is a fictitious brick and mortar store that wants to sell online. The client needs the website to maintain their personable brand image while providing easy and clear ways for customers to find items, a painless payment process, and the ability for customers to custom order items.

personas
Provided user personas and scenarios.

Solution

After review of the provided personas it was apparent that I needed to design an e-commerce site that provided clear navigation, intuitive flow, and a simplified checkout. With research, information architecture, wireframes, and usability testing I had a product for an early stage prototype of the ecommerce site.

Taxonomy: Taxonomy was established by conducting several rounds of open and then closed card sorts.
Card sorts
Site Structure: The site map generated includes all of the navigational components to support the three personas’ goals and actions.
Sitemap
User Flows: By completing each persona’s user flow I was able to test that a user could achieve his scenario goal while also meeting his needs and addressing relevant pain points.
